How to build a simple water habit at your desk without added sugar

Hydration tends to happen on its own when the water is already within reach. A small, plain setup at your desk can quietly do more for your day than a long list of reminders.

Set the glass where you work

Put a filled glass or bottle in the spot you look at most, just beside your keyboard or notebook. When water is visible and ready, you reach for it without thinking. Refill it whenever you get up, so the glass is never empty for long.

Attach it to a cue you already have

  • Take a few sips when you open your laptop.
  • Refill after each meeting or phone call.
  • Drink a little before lunch and again mid-afternoon.

Linking water to something you already do removes the need to remember it separately.

Add variety without added sugar

Plain water is the simplest choice, and it does not have to be dull. A slice of citrus, a few cucumber rounds, or a sprig of mint in a pitcher gives the water a fresh taste without sweeteners. Keep the additions simple and change them when you want a different flavor.

Frequently asked questions

How much water do I need? Needs vary from person to person and by activity and weather. Keeping water within reach and sipping through the day is a practical starting point.

Does coffee or tea count? Many people include them. If you drink a lot of coffee, it can help to alternate with water through the day.

What about evening water? Some people prefer to ease off close to bedtime to avoid extra trips during the night.

A small mineral note

Staying hydrated is mostly about water itself. Some people also like to keep a mineral supplement in their routine, such as Magnesium Glycinate. You can explore more in the minerals collection.
